FAMILIES AFFECTED BY AUTISM

Encore’s global production group teamed up with Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) of Southern Nevada and LDI Tradeshow to host parents and children for a Sunday Sensory Stroll of the LDI show floor at the Las Vegas Convention Center, for the second year in a row.

As children shuffled into Encore’s Sensory Booth, a host of “tech” activities activated wonder and imagination, and ignited their curiosity. Children played with sets of broadcast cameras, toggled a lighting board, watched displays on large monitors, explored presets with majestic-like movements. Microphones were available for their own “Voice of God” announcements. A DJ console allowed children to play and mix audio, so they could feel like the stars that they are.

A child’s wonder is a beautiful thing to witness. For children on the autism spectrum, engaging their imagination produces smiles and joy in an unforgettable way. By putting the power in their hands, they made magic with the equipment, and in their hearts. Encore was proud to collaborate with RRS, AV Strategy, Just for Show, and Rentex, to bring this experience to the families. This simple act of goodwill was worth more than our largest commercial event as we witnessed the joy it brought the children and their parents.

Phil Cooper, CEO of Encore’s global production group, currently serves on the board of Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) of Southern Nevada. Their mission is to provide information on treatment resources for families with children diagnosed with autism, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and related disorders. They provide support, encouragement, and guidance to parents and create an opportunity for them to benefit from contact with other parents with similar needs and concerns.
